Luke Listens: What You Said About Our Pride in Place Funding

Earlier this month I held a drop-in session at Devonport Market Hall to hear the thoughts of folks on what the £20 million Pride in Place funding I won for Devonport, Mount Wise and Morice Town should be spent on.

Local people were able to share their ideas around what our communities need and where the funding would most benefit.

Just some of the ideas shared by local people were:

    • Strong support from residents for historic buildings in the area to be renovated or restored
    • Cleaning up, maintaining and regenerating the local streets, pools and parks of our patch
    • Affordable housing and making our communities safer
    • The need for more parking and supporting our public transport links
    • Supporting youth services and creating more play areas for young people
    • More green spaces and community projects around the area
    • Support for helping local businesses and expanding accessibility to our public spaces.

All this feedback will now be used to help with the focus of the Pride in Place Plan for Devonport, Mount Wise and Morice Town. This was just the first opportunity for people to have their say in how money is spent in our community, and I want to thank everyone who came along to give their thoughts.

Lots of people also expressed an interest in being part of the residents panel and the Neighbourhood Board. It is good to see so many people keen to be involved in the next steps, and I will share more details on this soon.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a brilliant community, and I’d like to hear from as many people as I can. If you have any ideas, please complete my survey here or email me at [email protected]
