The Palace Theatre is an iconic Plymouth building, and I’m calling on its owner to invest in it or sell it to someone who will.
My worry is that we are running out of time before this historic building suffers the same fate as the Nations Club, only a stone’s throw away, which sadly went up in a blaze earlier this month.
The Palace Theatre features every year on my ‘Plymouth Buildings at Risk’ list, along with other historic but neglected buildings in our city that deserve investment, like Devonport Fleet Club and the old Pot Black Building, with a message to their owners of ‘invest or sell’.
Enough is enough. If the Palace Theatre goes up in flames, we lose this unique building and its place in our city’s history. Instead, it should be given a new lease of life and a bright future.
