We are going further and faster to deliver growth.
Today we’ve launched plans to train up to 60,000 more construction workers by 2029, tackling skills shortages and paving the way to deliver 1.5 million homes by the end of this Parliament.
In Plymouth we know we need thousands more construction jobs for the projects that are planned: from the new submarine docks in Dockyard, the now funded hospital extension at Derriford, the 5,500 homes in the city centre and many more projects.
To deliver the homes we need and the jobs from new developments we need more people to go into construction. Today we are announcing over £600m to train up to 60,000 more engineers, brickies, sparkies, and chippies.
Homegrown skills to deliver our Plan for Change and build 1.5 million homes for families across the country.
That’s the difference Labour in power makes.
