Good news for users of the Tamar Crossings.
Local MPs and the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee have today united in a breakthrough agreement to support cheaper tolls for local people on the Tamar bridge and ferry.
Over the next ten years, the plan will create an even larger benefit for local people who regularly use the bridge and the ferry by increasing the relative discount of the Tamar Tag compared to the cash fare paid by irregular travellers.
It’s about time that local people were put first, with a ten-year commitment for cheaper tolls for local people on the Tamar Crossings. This is a serious proposal that will safeguard income to run the bridge and the ferry, as well as saving local people money and giving them the lion’s share of the benefits.
I am glad to have worked on this alongside Anna Gelderd MP and Fred Thomas MP, as well as the chairs of the Tamar Crossings Joint Committee, Councillor Martin Worth of Cornwall Council (pictured) and Councillor Jon Dingle of Plymouth City Council (pictured).
