Hello Plymouth – Announced today, the government is rolling out an extra 700,000 appointments for NHS dentistry from April.
This includes more than 24,000 extra appointments in Devon, targeted where patients struggle most to see an NHS dentist.
The Conservatives broke NHS dentistry in Plymouth. It will take time to fix, but today marks an important step towards getting NHS dentistry back on its feet.
Labour is also reforming the NHS contract so that dentists take on more NHS work, and targeting recruitment to ‘dental deserts’ like Plymouth.
As well as this, Peninsula are opening a new dental clinic for NHS patients in Plymouth City Centre, which I have been pushing for with them and Plymouth City Council since I was elected.
I will keep campaigning until everyone in our city has access to NHS dentistry. We are making progress but there is much still to be done.
