š„On Derriford, the New Hospitals Programme, announced by Boris Johnson in 2020, promised ā40 new hospitalsā but was delayed by years and not a single new hospital had been constructed by the time the Conservatives left office. Upon coming into power, Labour found that the funding for the programme was shockingly due to run out in March 2025.
Labour has announced an honest, funded, and deliverable programme to deliver a new emergency department for Derriford.
𦷠On dentistry, Peninsula Dental School will open a game-changing dental clinic on New George Street in the old First Stop Shop.
Specialists, clinicians and final year dental students from Peninsula will provide urgent care there for people with pain, infection and trauma.
I’m delighted. I’ve been working on these plans with Peninsula Dental School for years as part of my campaign for a ‘Health Village’ of new NHS facilities in our city centre. In fact, my very first meeting as an MP was on these plans.
Work to revamp the property is set to take place within months.
The last government left Plymouth’s NHS dentistry in a dire state, and my work continues to make sure everyone can access an NHS dentist.
ā”ļø On scans and tests, construction of a new Community Diagnostics Centre is underway in Colin Campbell Court car park in the city centre.
