Today, I hosted a briefing for MPs across parties with Great Western Railway and Network Rail about mitigating the impact of the HS2 station construction at Old Oak Common on South West railway users.
The disruption is caused by the construction of the HS2 station at Old Oak Common alongside the current great western mainline. Work will mean multiple track closures disrupting trains to and from the south west.
Luke warned that the last government’s proposals would create “a decade of disruption” for South West rail passengers.
The construction of the UK’s largest new railway station is predicted to cause disruptions for passengers travelling from Devon and Cornwall, as well as Wales and Southern England.
Luke convened MPs from across party lines to come together and discuss the implications, solutions and opportunities for the work.
The first scheduled disruption will be on Sunday 17th November, where there will be no mainline trains operating from or to London Paddington.
